Cleansing the face with oil is one of the kindest things people can do for their skin.
But there is a ton of confusing information on the internet causing people to do it wrong. So we wanted to point out the top 3 mistakes people are making when oil cleansing.
The good news is, these are easy to fix!
- Using the wrong oils- All oils are not created equal! Rubbing cooking oil all over the face is not the same as using a specially formulated combination of cleansing oils. This is because every oil has a different comedogenic (pore clogging) score. We have specifically formulated our Refreshing Facial Cleanser with oils that penetrate and cleanse, but are low on the pore clogging scale.
- Not removing the cleanser properly- One of the best things about oil cleansing is that the oils penetrate deep into the skin and dissolve the hardened oils that have trapped dirt, grime and dead skin. BUT if this debris doesn’t get wiped away properly, it stays in the skin. Over time this can result in clogged pores and breakouts. This is why we always recommend wiping the oil away with a wet washcloth or exfoliating cotton circle at least twice.
- Not exfoliating- It is a habit for people to splash water on the face to remove regular foam cleanser. But when oil cleansing, it is important to exfoliate the top layer of dead skin. The good news is that this doesn’t require an extra step! This happens when the oil is wiped away with the washcloth or exfoliating cotton circle. This allows all of dirt and grime to be wiped away without a huge layer of dead skin blocking the way.
After years of research, we’ve crafted the perfect blend that deeply cleanses, preserves your skin’s natural moisture barrier, and leaves your skin feeling refreshed and nourished.
